October 9, 2010 - A Year at Milfiori Art Exhibit and Lunch Alfresco - Dozens of “en plein air” paintings created over the past year at Milfiori in Douglas Flat will be exhibited and offered for sale between 10 am and 4 pm. Award winning local artists, including Kathleen Dunphy, Shona Macomber, Charles Waldman and Janette Jones, have painted the seasons of Milfiori, a lovely 150 year old farmhouse surrounded by decades-old gardens. The property also includes the “Italian Store” which was the hub of the Douglas Flat mining community and a beautiful old barn where dances were once held. The paintings capture the essence of this historic treasure. The art exhibit benefits the oldest schoolhouse in Calaveras County. The Pioneer School, adjacent to Milfiori, was built in 1854 and is now the Douglas Flat Community Center. Paintings of the schoolhouse will also be featured. Free Admission to Art Exhibit and Sale.
